Logging Camp For Club RR Warning 4 Pics

Hi There;

I posted a few WIP pics. Here is the finished product. All thats left to do is rig the donkey engine on the left when it’s in place & blend the scenery into the surrounding area.

Update; I took it to the club tonite. The guys where really pleased with it. Made me feel real good. Thanx for all your compliments.

Nice scene. No people yet, but they will arrive for the cutting season. Will there be a couple of examples of the kind of trees they are cutting some place close by?

It loks great. What are you using for logs? I like the rough bark.

Hi There;

David; I am using prunings from my cherry tree. I used smaller logs because that is what grows in the area our RR models.

Art; On the mountain where the spar tree will be located I might put some trees. I looked at a lot of pics of old time logging operations. In just about all of them the only trees left standing where the ones burned by fires caused by locos. Those guys cut everything down. I agree about the lack of people. Just have to see if the Club wants to spring for them.

Great logging stuff (is there really any other type of model railroading ? ? ?)-------Remember, small twigs are exact miniatures of full grown trees down to the minutest detail, just remember to detail one end of the logs with the break where the tree hinges before ot topples.

No need to warn us about great pictures like that! I could look at those all day.

Great work! And awsome pictures.

Looking nice! The attention to detail is apparent, with all the stumps and slash and assorted detritus.

I just got back from a trip to the redwoods and picked up a few sticks to use on a future redwood-logging mini layout. The largest was around 2" in diameter, to represent 16 foot wide redwood logs, but also grabbed a few smaller sticks to represent more modest 4-8 foot wide logs.
