Logging Engines - Dozens of them posted, never seen this before

If you have ever thought of obtaining a Shay or other type of logging engine, check the web now.

There are dozens of logging engines being sold. I do not know why anyone would post all at one time as many engines as this seller.

I wonder if he realizes this is what makes prices lower.

Mmmm. wonder if I need another Shay? Maybe I should take a second look.

Nevmind this posting, forget what I said

Don;

Hey, in a rapper voice; Don’t Call it a Comebackl! …I Been There!

In HOn3, all the same!!!

Another Video (NOT Mine) but of the same model…

Didn’t check them all, but looks like nothing narrowgauge. With 1,400 engines to dispose of, maybe there are some HOn3 locos still to come?[:(]

I doubt this will have much effect on prices, as that depends on what a specific model is worth. With only one example of each type in the mix, as it looks, that’s only one more loco on the market than without this collection.

Too bad the guy never had a layout to run them on.

Yo

You are right, none of these are narrow gauge, there were some narrow gauge from the same vendor a while back, but no where as many.

Too bad for the estate that they are selling them off during the summer, I know that during winter and especially just before Christmas prices are higher. More bidders with the winter months and a lot less bidders during the summer.

Not sure I understand or agree with your thinking Don. People interested in a specfic prototype will bid whatever they are willing to bid, regardless of the other items the same seller has for sale.

I suspect that most people viewing those auctions are only interested in a few pieces, not the whole collection - but then again, what do I know, I’m not a collector, or a big buyer of used stuff on Ebay, especially not brass.

And, it seems every informal survey we have taken on this forum indicates that a great majority of modelers are active, at least in some way, all year long. So I don’t see time of year effecting out comes much either.

BUT, why does it matter? buy up what you want, I will not be bidding against you. I did not see anything I want. When I was able to buy two new in the box Spectrum 2-6-6-2’s for only $75 each some years ago, I did not ask why - I just paid the money. Turned out it was SoundTraxx selling off locos they originally planned to install sound in - before Bachmann offered sound

Maybe it is more important to the seller to be rid of the stuff than to squeeze every penny out of it.

As my daddy said - “The value of anything is only determined by how badly you wanter it, and how badly the other person wants to be rid of it”
