Login stangeness

I’ve got something weird going on that I can’t understand. As some here may be aware, I do my web work on a Mac. I also use Firefox 3 for surfing because I’m not really nuts about Safari, which is Mac’s built-in browser. What’s been happening is, when I check email using the Mac’s email client, and I get a message saying, for instance, that I’ve gotten a PM from someone on the forums here, I click on the link in the email and Safari comes up. That’s not the weird part, and there seems to be no way to change the default browser for links to Firefox. What is the problem is when the browser comes up and it takes me to the PM, I’m already logged in! And I ALWAYS logoff the website when I’m done with the forums, no matter which browser I use. And yes, I always close all windows except the last one to the forum when I logoff, because I’ve found if I only logoff of one window and have multiple forum windows open, I’m still logged in.

Anybody else run into this? I’m the only user on this computer so there’s only one user account on the machine.

Has to do with storage of cookies and them automatically renewing themself as you browse. It’s also connected to how the server works with the .aspx extenion and how the HTML pre-processor (essentially what the server does to make it show you what you’re asking from the database) deals with the information.

Your mileage may vary, but this is the in and out of it.
