Loksound vs. QSI??

Ok so who is the Loksound that Prescision Craft is going to be using for thier models? And how do they compare to QSI and SoundTraxx?

I believe that Loksound is the company that provides the sound in the Trix BigBoy and Mikado HO engines. I am not sure of the sound quality, but I have read that there is an issue with the number of inputs to the amplifier. For instance if the bell is ringing and you blow the horn, the bell has to stop for the horn to blow.

If they are who make the Trix sound systems, that is true about the sound not playing together very well. So why would PCM switch to Loksound if the QSI system is more advanced. I read somewhere that you can record your own sounds into a Loksound decoder, but that still doesn’t really make it worth it to me…

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

If that is the case with Loksound being unable to play different sounds together then I guess I will have to pass on these items and wait for the QSI which already has the ability.

According to their page, it should be able to run up to four sounds at a time.

Hmmm, that link came up in English for me, even though I was expecting Deutsch.

According to their specs, their sound is “up to 4 channels” meaning that up to 4 sounds can be heard simultaneously with the proper programming and tweaking of the decoder, but my interpretation of what they say is that 3 of those 4 sounds are ones that the end user can record into the decoder.

QSI seems to have more than 4 sounds going at once.

Until I see and hear a LokSound unit, I’ll stick with the ones I know about.

I believe the ESU LokSound decoders they are going to use are a newmodel, not the current production designs. They also have the added capability of user-downloadable sounds. So if you don’t like the horn they provide - just load your own!
I want the Reading T-1 more than I want the sound, so really I don’t care too much.
