I think the new rules at NJT are just a start. The is on the Chicago Tribune’s web site
Proof once again that some people are just looking for a reason to cause havoc. My sympathies to the innocent victims of this latest incident.

I’m beginning to wonder why they publicize these G8 conferences in the first place. Each one gets a little worse. Better the politicians just “show up” someplace and talk, then publicize it afterwards.
You have a very good point, Larry: have the conferences first, then tell the
world about them after the fact.
Boy,
These guys dont realize how hardheaded the Brits can be…one good thing, the Brits have a little more experience with terrorist on the home front, and their laws allow the suspension of some civil liberities.
But, this is the price that has to be paid…
Currently, at 706 CDT, ABC news states no confirmed death, and possible 7 exploisions, 6 in the underground, and one on a bus…
Sad, very sad.
Ed
I just heard on NPR that Al Q’eda (SP?) just claimed responsibility.
Mitch
Albeit,it’s just speculation right now,but supposedly the group claiming
responsibility right now,is a splinter group of the real al-Quaida. These people
were thought to have claimed responsibility for the bombings in Madrid
last year.
It is horrible in many ways, of course, and is a bad thing for us in the States to have to confront right on waking up. My heart goes out to London; such a wonderful city and such lovely people.
One particularly hateful thing: it is always the public transport that is the target.
So far 33 confirmed dead[:(][:(]

Right now they’re saying 40 deaths and 1000 injuries. There were four explosions in the underground and one on a bus. The attacks on the underground were made at stations where multiple lines meet, so that the system would be paralysed. All transit systems were shut down and Network Rail stopped all railway services, although they’re slowly starting them up again. It has been confirmed that this is the work of Al Qaeda as retaliation against Britain for their involvement in Iraq. The simmilarity to the Madrid train bombings is apparent, although they were the work of a North African terrorist group and not Al Qaeda.
They certainly picked their timing carefully, with the G8 summit and London being chosen for the 2012 Olympics only yesterday. I agree with others that it would make much more sense to have the G8 meetings top secret.
This is indeed a very, very sad tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims and their loved ones. May we not have to have another attack like this.
The scum likely left a clues of their where-abouts and will be not too difficult for MI6 to track them down and eliminate the non-direct participants. I wonder if the British Military has already been activated; I know that the Armed Response Unit would like have been in wake of this sick act.
My condolenses to the families and the surviving victims of another act of terrorist dirt-bags at work.
Obviously our first concern is for the victims and their families, but this only makes one wonder what will become of the railfanning hobby. It’s a shallow issue in the wake of all these deaths, but railfans were already viewed with a suspicious eye, now what? I think we’ll likely see more photo bans like in NJ, and unfortunately that will probably be only the tip of the iceberg.
I know Britain’s intelligence services are among the best in the world, and I wi***hem luck in catching the scum who did this.
Terrorist sacks of snake $h!t[:(!] (excuse my french)
Yes, this is a tragedy. But do not let us ruo judgment and condemn a certain ethnic or religous group for this terrible act. Yes, the act was committed by a member of some ethnic and religous group, but do not condemn all of these groups for the actions of a few idiots within their midst. I am of Welsh protestant ancestry and if a person or person from my ethnic and religous group should be proven to have done it please do not persecute the rest of my group for something they did not participate in and have no connection with. Please do not ruo vioence or rash actions for this terrible act. Let the authorities identify and arrest the perps then let the legal system deal with them. DO NOT take justice into our own hands. By doing that we lower ourselves down to the same gutter as the people who did this act.
PS I do not mean to demean the Welsh protestant people in the world by using their group as an example.
There are those among us who seek to cause harm and/or damage. All they need is an excuse. Witness the after-effects of a sports team winning a major title. Most of the people are out to celebrate their team’s good fortune. Some of them are there just because it gives them a cover under which to burn things and loot.
The international scene is no different. Some people truly want to change how things are. Some people just want to cause harm and/or damage.
Rather tough to sneak one president to any location without publicity; much less 8. However meeting on a warship at sea might avoid the riot problems.
Well said! The last thing needed is a knee-jerk reaction to what happened in London today. I hope sane heads will prevail and the cowards responsible for this atrocity will be brought to justice.
37 have been confirmed dead with around another 45 critically injured. The initial reports in the here were of a “power surge” on the underground which certainly raised a few eyebrows.
We have had a long history in the UK; I can remember being in Oxford Street at the time of the Harrods bombing in 1984 as a small boy and the only mainline station open that day was St Pancras - the rest were shut. It is very difficult to stop an attack like this - there were countless sec\urity alerts across mainline stations this afternoon and at work I dealt with a fair amount of service disruption; despite the fact that I work 300 miles from London.
Vigilance is the key. Until the world becomes a safer place. Vigilance is the key. Do not let this attack put anybody off coming to my capital city if you were planning a visit.
37 dead,700 wounded,4 exploions,3 in the subways,1 in a bus.[:(][:(][:(]
Frankly, we have been at war with the Islamic facists since the 1970s. They want to bring the Christian West down, and replace it with their sick version of Islam. Its obvious, they couldn’t give a rats tooth for our freedoms and our democracy…
Thease scum have know right claiming to be of Islamic faith. If I interpret the beliefs right, violence is strictly prohibited under most circumstances. Thease people are pure and simple scum. To me it is like saying Catholics are bad people because the Italian Mafia are Catholics which is totally ludicrous.
No…thease are just plain and simple world class scum of the earth not of any religion of God;…maybe the Devil.
