One train trip that I make every year is a 3-4 day camping trip out to the Needles Sub, which is always a train filled experiance. This year was no different. Between Friday afternoon & Monday afternoon I caught 137 trains (day, night, back lit, missed while moving, under clouds, etc.) quite a bit more than last years 89 trains. So Monday morning I spent some time around Klondike/Siberia where I caught the BNSF 712 west. This train not only looked good but it sounded good as well, the 712 is equipped with a Nathan P3. Below is a pic of the 712, as well as a link to my web page where I posted most of my Needles Sub pictures.

Very nice. Now, if there had been three of those pulling a string of Budd, ACF, or Pullman-built cars—!
Very eclectic mix of photos!
I have to agree with what Johnny said! THANKS FOR SHARING THEM HERE. [8D]
[Makes me want to go out camping across the creek to my neighbors yard…right on the Transcon.
They seem to have really picked up the volumes, in both directions here the last week.]
That’s an increase of 48 trains for your weekend, year-over-year = about 54%. If there’s any comparability in the time periods, that’s quite an increase in volume on the tracks.
Thanks for sharing the photos, too. I’ll have to look at the rest of them when I have more time.
Trust me my front window looks on the Chi-KC Racetrack and volume is WQAY UP. Yesterday IIRC we had 80+ movements here.
