i ve bin using this adhesive chaulk for laying track because i have a foam board base on top of plywood, but it’s really messy, and repetetive for soldering, i saw some 3/4" track nail on micromark’s website, but they just barely would reach the plywood, does anyone know where i could find some track nails that were bigger than 3/4’s of an inch?
if so - i dont see any problem with that, the nails/brads/whatever are there to just hold the track in position, and there should be enough ‘bite’ in the remaining length of the nail to secure the track.
Unless i overlooked something, they nails would only secure the tracks from moving out of position (through expansion&contraction/the trains themselves/etc), so even if they only went into the foam, they should be adequate, as you arent supporting anythingvertically, but merely anchoring it to a horizontal plane.
You can buy brads at Home Depot down to about a #16 size in 1" lengths I think. These are little to fat to fit thorough track holes, but a 1/16" bit in a pin vice twisted once in the track hole makes room.
