I’m curious if anyone recognizes the paint scheme on this MP15? Looks like the lease company just added its name with a spray can. The big 960 on the side was evidently there from a previous incarnation.

Familiar enough: MP15, built May 1976 as USSX (that’s United States Steel) 960, frame number 756119-6.
JTPX is Joseph Transportation, Inc., which was acquired by RELCO sometime last year, I think first week in July.

Yeah, she’s definitely seen better days. You should see her when she accelerates; looks like a steam engine! Think she’s running on about eight cylinders…
This mill also has an old NW2; it LOOKS a lot better, but smokes pretty good, also!
The MP15 in question was indeed a US Steel locomotive, assigned to the Minntac Division in Virginia, MN. It was equipped for remote control one-man operation and hauled crude taconite from a transloader to the concentrator. Huge off-road diesel-electric dump trucks hauled the taconite from the mine to the transloader.
