looking back, it's been one heck of a journey so far

Looking back, I’m amazed at how far i’ve come in a year or two. I went from a weird EZ track loop-like thing w/ two long staging tracks (no pictures) to an atlas code 80 layout w/ all facing point switches, no passing siding, no foam, and a yard w/ no lead, to a foam layout that still had a yard w/ no lead, to some small layouts, (one of a yard that had a lead, lol) and now I have a small layout that has some basic scenery.

OK, so here’s the only three pictures I have of my layout w/ atlas code 80 track. I mgiht have some more somewhere, but here they are for now:

The yard. That is my atlas GP9 on the turntable, had it painted in the Aiken-Latta railway scheme.

Looking out over all the screwed-up facing point switched industrial area (I didn’t know anything about facing and trailing point. hadn’t even read an issue of model railroader back then (thank you to it by the way, and ya’ll, for teaching me so much)

And finally the back end of the yard. I solved my problem of facing point sidings w/ a backdown track from the turntable to that first track.

And here’s a few of the SEC rwy., just for laughs:

here’s the

You just have a littel further to go and root for the Bears who ARE in first.

Dang, pulling the pics up to full size, i really am amazed at how far I’ve come.

Ain’t progress nice? I look at what people have done in 40 years and wonder. On the other hand, the last 2 or 3 years have been good for some of us.
