Don’t forget some passenger trains also have a generator van on them and a couple of flat cars with the passengers cars and or caravans on them or refrigerator vans and express freight vans or mail.
A loading ramp for the cars will be needed and a platform for the loading and unloading the vans as well not to mention the dinning and club coach which must also be serviced
If your train in is the right Era it might also have a gold van on it which will have to be the right way round when it arrives or it will not be able to be unloaded.
Passenger operations are something that often people forget the extras that can make it a bit more interesting.
Also they don’t have the room for the large area needed for the major terminals and service area’s to get the extra interest into the passenger operations
“Attention Attention the Midnight Mail is about to depart from platform 1” but whats on the other 12 platforms you are looking at some serious space for your major terminal I assume you will be running at least nine coach trains + possible extra wagons on the train.
