Several years ago, AHM had a Machine Shop. The model was also done by Tyco and Atlas, maybe even IHC. It was a Pola model. It was reincarnated as Burns Engineering and Johnson’s Chemicals… maybe even some electrical company. The kit was also part of the old Grusome Casket Company model. That was probably 15-20 years ago.
But recently, a friend showed me a kitbash using five of those kits. Now I’m on the look-out for some. Does anyone know if anyone is currently making this particular model in HO scale? If not, does anyone know of a shop that tends to have older stuff laying around?
If you have checked the online stores, I doubt that any one shop would have 5 of a kit of that vintage. I would think a visit to ebay is in order. Set up a couple of “saved searches” using some of the numbers and names that you know. If you can find an old Walthers catalog, you might be able to get a better name or number for it.
Uh…that kit is probably one of the more common kits ever produced for model railroading. As you mentioned, various manufacturers have offered that kit under various industry names over many years. Not sure if it is currently being manufactured any more.
Search “building” in the HO scale section of Ebay and do a lot of scrolling and you’ll probably find a dozen of them for sale, either built or unbuilt.
I’m interested in seeing how you kit bash five of them. Sounds cool.
