Looking for a particular layout, need help... PLEASE

Hi everyone, I’m new to the site, a long time reader and subscriber, just coming around to the forum. Anyways, I was looking to find a layout I once saw, wel the pictures of it. Anyways, it was back dated in time a little, I would guess between the 50’s and 70’s perhaps (the eara not the magazine!) And it focused quite a bit on the shore line, it had a boat house, with rails to remove boats from the water to the house, and I belive there was a boat in for repair, a very well detailed layout… Not sure if anyone has any idea what I’m talking about but I figured no harm in asking. Aslo does anyone know if there are any shots of Gary Hoovers, port scence on his layout? All the magazines I’ve ever seen his work in fail to show photos of it. Thanks, Patrick

Do you know if he ever actually built it? Just because it’s on the track plan doesn’t mean it actually exists.

As for your other question—way too vague for me, especially your 20-year range!

I have no idea if he ever buit it… It doesnt say under contruction, or anything on the layout, kind of why I’m asking… I know I read an articale on here about building roads by him and it’s a port scene pictured. I’ll find the link, As for my second part, have you seen any model railroads where there is a boat house with the launching rails running out of the water into the shed with a boat in the shed being repaired? If you have could you give me the list of them if you have it so I can look through and see if it’s the one I remember. Thanks, Pat

I don’t know if Gary Hoover ever completed that scene and I believe that he has since built a different layout.

The one layout I remember with a boat house and slipway (rails into the water) was Iain Rice’ Roque Bluffs project layout in the Oct. 2003 to May 2004 issues of Model Railroader. But I’m not sure there were any good photos of the boathouse. Maybe you are thinking of another one, but Rice’ layout was certainly well-detailed…
