I’m with an experiential design/build company located in Kansas City. We have a contract for a presidential library and part of our scope is building and/or assembling parts for a replica train that is period accurate. We would love to be able to consult an expert to make sure we are honoring the authenticity because this is such a high profile exhibit. If anyone here can point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome aboard, @Marisa!
Those dates don’t line up. What’s the specific period of interest, and area you want covered?
Pullman car from the 1890’s. The train would have traveled from New York to Medora, ND. You might have guessed this revolves around Teddy Roosevelt. Still don’t have all the details for the look and feel of what we will need to represent, but thought I would start the process of finding someone knowledgable. Let me know if this helps or if more information is needed. Appreciate the response!
Welcome
For construction, and some use details that may be relevant, see car Sunbeam preserved here:
Welcome on board, Marisa
I think this is super helpful as well as just interesting as heck! Thank you!
Marissa,
There is a passenger car built in the 1880s preserved in Rolla, MO, not to far from KC, if you’d like to inspect it. I can pout you in touch with the head of the city parks and rec to get access.
