Looking for an old CTT article

Does anyone remember the article in CTT a few years ago about a static display shelf that was looked into a transformer in order to activate operating cars, lighting, and accessories?

Is this article on-line?

Not sure I remember a specific article to “static shelf”, but there was one that had a layout with a track that was not hooked up to the rest of the layout. Operating cars remained in place over the UC track. Then, the track was powered and the cars operated. The ends were conceled so that visitors didn’t know the trains would not be able to hook up. If you are thinking of a different article, you can look up in the index which is on this site, or email Bob Keller and ask.

Bob Keller is researching but nothing so far. If it can be found, he will let you know.

I’m not sure if it is what you’;re looking for, but “Build a display for your Lionel accessories” was in our Feb 2001 issue. It doesn’t cover operating cars, just accessories like crossing gates, oil wells, etc. I don’t believe it is available in electronic format.
