Looking for HO Highway Truck wheels

My ol’ favorite source for wheels to modify HO truck models with, Athearn, is no longer listing them. Does anyone know of a good economical Source for good looking wheels-n-tires for big rigs in HO? Thanks Dan

Sparkingbolt,
One source for wheels is Tyls Small Scale Truck Sales, a Canadian dealer. The URL is:
http://www.tylssmallscaletrucksales.ca/partspage.html
If you search around more at the “1/87 Vehicle Club” site, at
http://www.1-87vehicles.org
you may find other leads.

Sparkingbolt,
Found another source, it’s Bowser:
http:www.bowser-trains.com
In their HO Repair & Parts Manual, 16th Edition, they offer truck wheels for Roadrailer(R) and highway trailers. Part # 74215 is the outer tire, part # 74216 is the inner tire, part # 74217 is the trailer wheel axle, and if you need them also, mud flaps are part # 74218.

Dan,
Yet another source is Sheepscot Scale Products:
http://www.sheepscotscale.com/
When you go to their site, you’ll see they offer a fairly wide selection, but you may find their prices are higher than the other two sources.

Thanks for the info, Bob. I have already placed an order with Tyl’s, great guy to work with.
I checked out Sheepscot, they look good too. I will look at Bowser as well. I would not have found these places without the help. Thanks again, Dan

Dan,
Keep on trucking ! You’re more than welcome. I also sent an Email to Sylvan Scale Models to find out if their truck tires were an unadvertised, available part. I received a polite, rapid, response of “No” from Mr. Clare Gilbert, who noted that their tires were mounted differently than other brands since they were designed to allow one to pose their trucks with the front wheels in a turn. If you like building resin kits, you might want to check out their complete product line at:
http://www.isp.on.ca/sylvan
In addition to trucks, it also includes ships, Canadian prototype railroad cars and structures.

JBarney,

Thanks! Great help! I have several HO trucks, trailers and a charter bus that need wheels. I don’t reli***he idea of using a bunch of spare wheels that I have from
my old Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.

Question: Are any of these companies listed in the Walther’s Catalog? I’m buying one from my LHS in the next week or so.

Sparkingbolt and Antonio FP45,
Following a link by someone else in another posting, I found another source for HO highway truck wheels. It is Absolute Scale Models, a maker of cast resin models. The URL for their site is:
http://www.asmodels.com
They have chromed, injection molded rear wheel assemblies. You’ll have to scroll down in their truck listing. They also make locomotive shells, passenger and freight cars, as well as railroad commuter cars.
