Looking for info on Q&E railroad

I recently had a conversation with a fellow railfan who mentioned the Quakertown and Eastern Railroad. Does anyone have any info on this railroad? Does anyone know of a web-site with some photos or maybe a map of this line?

Have you tried “Google”? I was looking for information on the New Orleans, Natalbany & Natchez and the Gainesville & Northeastern, both of which were abandoned in 1935 and found what I was looking for. Ask for “Quakertown & Eastern”, “Quakertown and Eastern”, and Quakertown & Eastern Railroad" (in quotes) and you’ll probably find what your are looking for. Good luck.

Daniel, call Salamon’s Jewelers in Allentown, or call directly to Gerhard Salamon in Emmaus, for a copy of “Railroads in the Lehigh River Valley” by the late Randolph L. Kulp. The Q&E operated from Quakertown thru Richlandtown and down to near Durham near the Delaware River (see my post on Railroad in Richlandtown, PA on nrhs.com last year). Abandoned before 1940. Q&E is written up in that book complete with some pix. Do you attend the NRHS’ Lehigh Valley Chapter meetings at LANTA garage in Allentown (3rd Saturdays at 7)?

Thanks Jim. I heard about the Q&E from a gentleman named Richard Kipp. It sounds like it was an intresting operation. Is this book something that I will be able to pick up at the First Frost train meet in Feb? Also, where is the LANTA garage located in Allentown? I am fairly familiar with the area so I think I should be able to find it with a little direction. Thanks again!
