Is it possible to get the layout plans for models that are in the Model Railroad Mag? If so where can I find them?

Are you looking for Plans for the B&M? In all the years i have been modeling that line, i have always had to rely on either first hand knowledge because i live north of Boston, or have obtained books on the B&M which have had great maps of some of the older abandoned right -of-ways.

there is a kalmbach publication called “build realistic city scenery” that features the boston and maine throughout the book…it’s location featured in the publication is on the boston docks and has a detailed track plan of the dock area…chuck

Although they are not layout plans, you can find track maps in the historical USGS quadrangle maps for the New England area at Maptech’s site:

Been doing recent searches on the B&M because I’ve made MRng my retirement hobby. Although had layouts long ago(dried coffee grounds for ballast) and -in a sense- am new to the current hobby. In a 6-1/2 X 12-1/2 foot layout, I’m trying to include segments of the B&M between Manchester and Concord including a Branch Line called the “Blueberry Express”. Here’s what I found so far:
1-A book called "Boston & Maine in the 19th Century " by Bruce D. Heald.
2-A recent publication by Classic Trains called “Diesel Victory” . Has chapter called “From Steam to Diesel on the Boston and Maine”
3-Have gone directly to the USGS website too(Like Bob mentioned).

Thanks alot for the info. I’m actually from Albany and today I started looking for info regarding the subject. I have a area about 20 ft long and 9 ft wide and plan on using all of it. Again thank you all.

I am building a layout about that size in a 12 ft X 24 ft building that I got from a model RR book titled “Track Planning Ideas from Model Railroader 58 track plans from past issues” Specifically I am modeling the Moth Lake and Mount Ahab RR, however I am giving the towns names from the old Maine Sandy River RR. There are several layouts in that book that would be appropiate.

I was born and brought up in Maine but now reside in Cabot, Arkansas.
