I’ve been reading a slew of books on realistic model railroad operation and was hoping to get some experience on someone else’s layout before building mine.
Really looking for a mentor who is willing to take someone under their wing and doesn’t mind me asking the stupidest of questions and making the rookiest of mistakes

I’d strongly recommend that anyone interested in model railroad operations join the Operations SIG. There’s even a low-cost online-only option. The magazine alone is well worth the price of membership.
The OpSIG operates a “call board” that allows members to find operating layouts in their area (or an area they are visiting). Great way to meet like-minded individuals.
