looking for resources for pre war restoration.

I have a prewar 238 steamer which needs some parts and work. I have not come across any service manuals or parts suppliers for the prewar stuff. Does any one have any recommendations?

There are a couple of Greenberg repair book for general pre-war trains published by Kalmbach. You might want to look for this.

other one is probably out of print:

The site is pretty good with pictures of the parts. Just what I was looking for.

Thanks

Have you tried a local train show for Lionel repair manuals?
Have heard that the Greenberg’s repair manuals DO NOT cover everything on postwar o prewar repairs, I do know that Greenberg’s price guide is incomplete for prewar items, some of the trains I have from my dad are not listed any where in the price guide.
For example a 249E with a 2225T tender, the tender is not mentioned at all!!
