looking for scale bricks...

a couple years ago I was at a train show here in Charlotte and there was a dude selling, get this, scale bricks… that’s right individual bricks in HO and O scale… made from some sort of resin, sold by the pound…

any idea of the company name?

Good Grief! It reminds me of the comic I saw when the guy went into the hobby store saying he was building an aquarium in N scale, and wanted tiny N scale fish. Sounds interesting about the bricks, never seen them myself but if I get to a local train show I’ll look around. I would like to see what they look like.

I would love to find some of those also! and Cinder bricks too.

I know exactly what your talking about, but can’t find a link to them. I think they were actually sold for some other hobby, but the maker said they worked great for model railroads too. The ad showed some retaining walls made with them.

LinkaWorld sells molds to make your own walls, but I know that’s not what your talking about.

Loathar - that was a jolt!! I have a drawer full of the Linka stuff - left over from my Dungeons & Dragons days!!! Never thought about them for the layout - I’ll give it a try, but I think they are closer to 1/72 scale. Thanks!![:)]

Along the lines of the Linka stuff makes me think of another site, http://castlemolds.com/

They make molds for making wargaming scenery, which if you’re modeling O scale buildings made from stone, they would be a-ok.

Reducing bricks to HO scale would have to have a warning: “DO NOT INHALE BRICKS” wouldn’t they be almost invisible.

Actually they are quite visible on most brick model buildings, so the answer is NO. Common modular bricks seem to scale larger than many common strip styrene sizes:

4in x 3in (avg) x 8in = .046" x .035" x .092" (HO scale)

Even in Z scale, the 3" height is still quite visible (.0136")

A Z scale brick, try picking that up! Or maybe a Z scale person can throw it at another Z scale person they aren’t overly fond of…

Interesting. I’m looking for cobblestones for street paving.

They told me they were 1/87 scale in an Email. I thought about buying some brick and stone molds for retaining walls.
