Looking for some Passenger cars

Evening all, As some of you may, know My HO layout is based in the mid to late '70’s, I have a 2-6-2 Prarie that I am wanting to use as a tourist train, I am needing about 3 passunger cars and a caboose that will work, I would rather not have anything to modern or to big. I do have a couple of tight curves that would probley give the long ones fits.

Any suggestions or maybe a pic or two. Thanks, Mike

I would look into finding some MDC/Roundhouse Harrimans. They are only 60’ scale feet long (8 3/4") and would look good for a toursit outfit. They are easy to assemble and I see lots of them at train shows and the like. I have some that I got at a garge sale that I am not going to use. Contact me off list if you are interested in buying them.

MDC Harrimans are a good choice. They also produced “Pullman Palace” cars, 1880’s or so looking, 50’ long I think. Athern also has made streamlined & heavyweight cars in the 60’ range.[8D]

Pullman Palace cars are actually quite long… 86’

Harriman and Overland cars would be the ticket…

Add steps and benches to a gondola and place it between the engine and the coaches for the fans that loke to ride outside.

Also, old MU cars with the pans removed are used by some tourist roads. Some even have window sections removed for that "open air " effect, Strasburg even added truss rods and wood sides to backdate the cars.

Steam Would please explain about the MU cars? I guess I am kind of ignorant when it comes to steam and passenger cars. What are ''Pans"?

Thanks everyone for all the help Mike

I believe Rivarossi is about to run their 60 footers again pretty soon. Get 'em before they sell out!!

I believe that pan=pantographs. I have seen many groups aquire these cars and remove the pantographs and modify the trucks so they are no longer set to run as electrics. They must have been giving these cars away at some point as many groups ended up with them.\

here are some examples from the PSRM
