I have one HO scale Walthers Modern Roundhouse kit (in box for some time to come yet) and one 3 stall extension kit. I’d like to get the parts to extend another stall or two without buying a whole kit. Does anyone have the add on/stall extension parts that they’ve no use for and would be willing to part with cheaply? My kits are buried in a storage unit for now and I can’t look at the directions just now. Is it easy to take the stall extension parts and add to an existing shorter stall no matter where the location (in the entire roundhouse) will be? I seem to remember that it’s just a matter of adding one (two?) longer wall(s) and the base piece, is that right? So, to summarize, I have room for a 4 stall roundhouse. I own one r.h. kit and one 3 stall add on kit. What’s the best method for ending up with a 4 extended stall round house? In another two to three weeks, I should have my bench work together and will dig the kits out, but wanted to seek out the parts ahead of time. Anyone have some they don’t need, won’t use and are willing to donate or sell cheaply? It doesn’t look like Walthers sells the HO scale extension parts only- without a whole structure kit. Has anyone ever purchased just the parts from them? Thanks in advance.
Capt,
I am confused by your question. The RH kit has 3 stalls and the extension kit has 3 stalls. How many stalls do you need?
Sue
What he’s talking about Sue is the parts to make the stall longer. One set comes with each kit so one stall can be extended. What you’re talking about is the kit to add 3 stalls to the roundhouse, which should also have the parts to make one stall longer.
I have the basic kit and will be buying two of the add-on kits to make a 9 stall roundhouse. I won’t need to make any of the stalls longer so these parts will be excess to my needs. The only problem is the two add-on kits are on my Christmas list and I won’t have them until at least then. If you can wait, you’re welcome to the parts, I’ll send them to you for the cost of shipping.
Thank you Tom! That would be AWSOME of you and GREATLY appreciated! I’m still putting bench work together so post Christmas/New Year’s should work fine. Being retired and with the economic crash dipping rather severely into the savings, I doubly appreciate your generous offer. I think I can plan the additional future extended stall space I’ll need with the 2 extension kits I already have. I’ll see if I can find something to send you in trade when the time comes. Home made jam, CDs with an original train song on it, etc. or a little cash if you need it in addition to postage. If you PM me, I’ll send you my contact info.? If for some reason, with the new site format you have any problems doing that, let me know here, and I’ll try contacting you via email. I’m pretty positive I’ll only have room for a four stall (all extended) roundhouse, but I’m going to see if I can squeeze six in, so if anyone else has two more they’re willing to part with, please let me know? Wish I had the room for a truly round round house
Hi Sue. Greetings from Skagit County. Thanks again!
Thanks, Tom. I must have been a little fuzzy in the head.
Capt, I may have those parts two somewhere at the bottom of the pile. I will check with Larry.
Sue
Cool. Thanks Sue (and Larry) for checking on my behalf. I can’t remember whether or not any “extra” walls are involved with extending the stalls… I’ve go to get to the storage locker and dig out those instructions this weekend. I appreciate your kind offer to see what you might have. It would be fun to visit each other’s layouts one day. Anacortes is having their club’s open house this weekend. Don’t suppose you guys were coming all the wall up here for that… I you were by some chance, let me know and it would be great to say hi.
Keep me posted on what happens.
Tom
