Gentlemen:
In my never-ending search for passenger car information from before WWII, I stumbled across a website of a manufacturer of craftsman wood kits for late 1800s and very early 1900s wood passenger cars.
I did not book mark it. [banghead]
It had black and white profile sketches of at least 20 kits available ranging from coaches to high-end business and lounge cars. I don’t remember if trucks were advertised.
I believe the manufacturer was American and they offered several lines: passenger, Freight, MOW, etc.
I think I jumped off onto it from a UK website promoting itself to “aim to be the best” or “most reliable” “most depended” hobby site in the UK. I didn’t bookmark that one either.
If any of you can think of what this was I found, please let me know, post or e-mail…
Yours,

A company called Westwood also made wooden kits of old time passenger cars.Maybe Jay has it for sale at his www.jaystrains.com/ site
Joseph2 and others,
Unless you’ve confused the name, Westwood made/makes? kits of plastic. The parts are modular so that you can use the components to make the different types of passenger cars. I got some kits from Westwood in 1996 for HOn3 Sumpter Valley cars. The address then was:
E. L. Byer (Checks payable to)
Westwood
P. O. Box 12206
Fort Wayne, IN 46863
I did an Internet search and also obtained a phone number for:
Edward L. Byer
5410 Fairfield Avenue
Fort Wayne, IN 46807-3333
(260) 456-1882
No Web site and no magazine ads, unfortunately, since the design is a novel approach akin to scratch building from parts.

Ambroid made a number of wooden kits as well, including passenger cars. I donot believe that they have been around for some time however.

Paul and Joseph2,
I apologize, there is some wood in the Westwood kits, but the majority of the parts are styrene. I like the Westwood parts and kits because depending on the prototype they offer(ed) parts for turtle back, duckbill or carriage roof cars and the 0ld stle strap steps. IIRC, they offered SP Sunset Limited and Pennsylvania Limited cars. I can’t figure out why they didn’t catch on more.
Paul, is the limited run Ma and Pa kit in HO or S, and did you ever build it ?
