Looking out for number...4

My son has taken such an interest in watching trains that he has started writing down the numbers of all the locomotives we see passing through town. This week I happened to spot CSX #4 rolling past my office window (while he was at school), and was wondering…

Do CSX numbers 1 through 3 have a particular region that they frequent, or can they pretty much end up anywhere in the CSX system[?] (not to mention foreign roads)

Seeing #4 was the first single-digit locomotive number in our inventory, and we have decided it would be pretty cool to spot the locomotives with even lower numbers[^].

the power will go anywhere and eveywhere… they might be in a area for a few days or even a few weeks…but wont stick around… the only power that sticks around for a while is yard power… they stay in the assinged yards unless thier is a major power shortage…and then they can be put on road trains… untill they are shiped back to a shop for repairs or inspections…
