Looking to buy Sndtrx Decoder...

I’m looking for soundtrax decoders at a reasonable price and need to purchase with PayPal. Any advice? Thanx. Jay.

I have DSD 100LC and for the price they aren’t bad. I recently bought two DSX’s, which I’m not pleased with at all but I’m still working to improve the sound quality for $60 I still don’t think they are worth the price and I have one Tsunami on order and from what I’m told they are very good and worth the extra $20.

This is my opinion only and I’m sure others may feel differently about the DSX’s but after hearing the sound in BLI’s there is no comparison what so ever. In fact I prefer the sound in my LC decoder as it seems to be crisper then the DSX’s.

If you are willing to wait a year I believe the whole sound market will have evolved to a point where you will find the quality:cost ratio will be considerably better.

Again just my opinion.

Fergie;

From what you wrote, you have a speaker issue, not a decoder issue. Proper speaker installation, baffling, etc are more important than the decoder.

BLI spent a great deal of effort on the speakers, as have all of the QSI® HO scale locomotives. I wonder if QSI is driving this, so that people maintain a superior opinion of thier products, and this may be related to thier very slow entry into user installed systems.

Jay, try Tony’s and Loy’s.

an interesting thought , but given the time it took to get the tsunami from the drawing board to the store shelves , and the fact that the digitrax sound still isn’t available i don’t think this year is going to make a big difference . last year did , the tsunami is selling for around $80 and a year ago you’d pay double that for a decoder that wasn’t as good . i think it will be a while before we see that big a drop again . but if i’m wrong , this [:D] will be on my face !

Try www.litchfieldstation.com Bruce takes Paypal as the primary method of payment for items purchased thru the shopping cart. He also has competetive prices on all DCC stuff.

I purchased a Tsunami from Tony’s Train Xchange at the Springfield Moder RR show last weekend. I heard the demo at my LHS and it was great!! I was sold. I paid $72 for it at the show, it was the model for the Mediun size locomotives. As more people buy these, they will drop in price, but how fast is anyones guess.

Hi, I also bought a Tsunami from Tony’s. Does anyone know if the 9 pin harness inside the decoder unplugs easily? I read the warranty and it says if you remove the “purple” casing, the warranty is void. My 2-8-0 is DCC ready and I was wondering if I could use the Digitrax DHWHP nine pin header assembly and 2x4 NMRA plug instead of solering a bunh of wires. This harness converts the 9 pin conector in the decoder to the NMRA 8 pin.
thanks, Scott

Since you’re not too far away from him, try Tim at Empire Northern. http://www.empirenorthernmodels.com. If you don’t see it on his web site, send him an email. When I was looking for some decoders and additional wirign aids, I didn;t see the DCC plugs on his site so I emailed him and I got a reply back in a few minutes with his price and orderign info.
I’ve had excellent service from Bruce at Litchfield as well.
