I’m pretty sure that’s an MBTA boxcar used in MOW service…and it doesn’t surprise me a bit that it’s ex-B&M. North Station, the Fitchburg line, and other lines used by the MBTA used to be B&M… Where was this boxcar?
Very cool. And a weathering job I’d like to try!
Alan Dustin sold off a lot of the 40ft cars to people for storage… There are 2 in Woburn, 2 In Cambridge(by Alewife), and 4 or so in Waltham. There are also a bunch of Milk Cars and what not, I’m sure I’m forgetting some. The car in question was previously used as storage for U.S.S. Constitution Wood, but when the Naval Yard wanted the cars gone MBTA stepped in and bought the two for MOW service. Its beginning to look like a railroad museum, Red MoPac transfer cabooses, Amtrak Baggage Cars, and B&M Boxcars!
That yard would be an excellent photo op!!!
its in Somerville MA
