My M-K-T in Dallas N scale switching layout article in Model Railroad Planning 2010 was lacking some key photos that I had hoped to include.
Even though these photos can be found on the web, it turned out that locating photographers, clearing copyrights, and the availability of high-quality versions of the photos were all challenges.
Whoa, forget the article, what I’m more amazed at is the fact that you are Byron Henderson, The Byron Henderson I had no idea there was such a famous Model Railroader on the forums. If this was in person I would be shaking all over like I’m talking to a celebrity. Heck! You are a celebrity.
Byron: Thanks so much for including those pics and sites in the “Lost” photos site of yours. Way back in the 1980’s my wife and I went through that area and this fellow took a bunch of pix around there. Now you got me looking around the house for something even closely resembling the photoboxes I stuffed them into!![banghead][(-D]
This does raise an interesting question in my mind that if one is going to model a specific area that it might be a good idea to check out the resources available on various university and public library sites as well for any pics of those areas. I know I got a slew of the things for my layout so I can model the protolanced Emerald, Leemer and Southern—residing in the northern plains and prairie regions–
He’s like my Idol. He is the reason I made last minute track changes for more operation. He is the reason I model 1895. He is the reason I strive for realistic models. He is the reason I do nearly everything I do. All those back issues of MRP and the Model Rail podcast are how he changed my MRR carrier for the better.
Yeah, he has the same problem. Every morning when he looks in the mirror-- takes him nearly 10 minutes to muster up the courage to open his mouth to brush his teeth… but what can ya do? (Shrug)

That’s not true. He doesn’t have to brush his teeth as they are self-cleaning. He’s never been to a barber in his entire life as his hair is self-trimming. Unlike the rest of us mere mortals, Byron can put on his pants both legs simultaneously. He can wave his hand in an empty room and create a fully scenicked and operational model railroad that is so well adapted to the decor of the room that interior designers flock to his place of business to worship at his feet. The only real downside to that is that Byron’s up to his eyeballs in frankincense and myhrr and has single handedly supplied Cash4Gold with several tons of the stuff.
Rumor even has it that 3 wise men, Koester, Brooman and Darnaby make regular pilgrimages to see him.
