I installed and had great sound on my new Turbine, but while I was installing the lights, I thought I had accidently touched an exposed purple wire from one of the speakers to the body. One minute I had sound, the next it was off. I replaced the speakers but they did not work either, so I tested the decoder and it’s working fine. Would the capacitor (which is attached to the decoder) be fried even if the decoder is working fine? How could I be sure? What else am I missing? JRP
It is possible that you fried the audio amplifier by connecting it to a voltage.
The audio section is separate from the motor controller, so if one works that doesn’t mean there is no damage in the other section.
You should try resetting the decoder first, in case you scrambled something. Also make sure that the audio isn’t muted.
Contact the manufacturer and see what they say.
I find it good practice to put kapton tape on the backside of any of the caps to avoid possible shorts. This sounds like the amplifier got fried. It should be covered under warranty.
