It sure is good to be back online. After I figured out how to get recognized again it went OK (so far). I do have a couple of gripes - mainly that the print of the postings is too small, as is the Avatars.
Quite honestly, I don’t want to be considered “resistant to change”, but the Forum itself could have been left alone and I would have been quite happy.
The last couple of weeks I haven’t had a lot to post or say, but the last day and a half I missed the forum. It was more the fact that it wasn’t there at my direct disposal should I choose to use it, say somehting, or post anything that led to my discontent, not the actual fact that it was shut down.[8-|]
Now if we uncover bugs, and they address them in a timely manner…we can all be happy [%-)]
SOme will I am sure, suffer some [U] over the loss of the old style of forum, and some will just get used to the new format when they change it again.
WE should all thank the fine folks at MRR and Trains.com for making such a free public access forum for us to mess around with! [Y][bow]
Being a typical “lone wolf” MR, the Forum is my connection with the rest of the MR world. I truly appreciate that, and applaud Kalmbach for making it available.
As some may know, I tore down my previous layout in Dec., '08, and am putting in a new one (11x15, two level, HO, DCC). As the other layout had been with me since 1993, it was a difficult decision, as was the decision to go with DCC for the new layout. Without the Forum - specifically the good folks who post on it - I seriously doubt I would have built a new one.
So I am very thankful to have access to this Forum, and to have the interaction with the good folks herewith.
