Loud Decoders?

Has anyone had this problem?

I just received two new Atlas GP40s with Lenz Decoders factory installed. Upon using them I find them extremely loud. The engines make a loud electrical-box type buzzing sound which disappears with high speed. I gather this has to do with the frequency which the decoder is pulsing the engine (I do get good slow speed control), but the noise is terrible! I have digitrax brand decoders in all my other engines and they are silent.

Is there anyway around this or am I destined to buy two new decoders?

Thanks for any help,

You first need to determine which Lenz decoder is in the engines, then go to the Lenz web site and download the documentation for it and see if the frequency is adjustable. All too often the cheapest decoder is used and is not properly programmed.

In the Atlas forum, someone asked about this problem in mod #342 decoders. Atlas suggested entering a value of 8 in CV50. The poster said he tried it, and the buzz went away.[{(-_-)}]
