I have two Life-Like GP-9’s I purchased March 2005. New, right out of the box, they both made intermittent screeching sounds when they run. I contacted Walthers and they sent me driver gear assembly kits. I replaced the driver gears but the trains are still noisy. Can anyone offer suggestions? I’d like to try and fix the trains myself before I send them back to Walthers.
Try just one drop of oil on the shaft of the motor , between the flywheel and motor housing. Sounds like a dry bearing. Also oil bearing blocks at the top of gear tower, front and back of worm gear. This usually takes care of screach sound.
