Louis Menk was president of the Northern Pacific Railroad at the time of the merger with the BN. Do any of you BN or Menk fans know of a Lionel train done up by General Mills, owner of Lionel at the time, in Burlington Northern that was given to Menk before he died?
Was this a one time only set made by Lionel MPC just for Mr Menk and him only? Was it a open stock set that anyone could buy and that Mr Menk was given a copy of?
I have a set that was engraved and presented to Ralph Budd, the president of the Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy RR, in 1934 by American Flyer. It is a stock set that was engraved on the roof of the engine.
