Hi guys, not been here for a while so I thought I’d share a few pics of a much changed RR. These were taken on Saturday when everyone was out and I had the garden to myself.
first train of the day through Winton
freight waiting for clearance
clearance given and crossing the river
Santa Fe hits town
Rio Grande varnish
Rio Grande freight passes varnish, small passenger train in the distance at Green River
coming over the river
I’ve added a loop around the back of the shed and a passing track to facilitate this. I run analogue and I can now have 5 trains on the RR at any one time. MTS one day!
Looks nice! I like the way you have arranged the toen building in the first picture…I may have to borrow some ideas… Where did you get the lamp posts? They add a nice touch to the scene. It looks like it was a pretty day also.
It looks like you did a lot of rail road work again , nice pictures , i had some pictures posted a while back to, they are on page 2 or 3 by now. later BEN
Cheers guys, lamp posts are LGB, plenty around in the UK so should be ok on the far side of the pond. Nice to see the forum is doing well, I’d better find some pics a couple of pages back…[;)]
I see you have the Piko toy saloon, what are the other two Piko toy buildings and the propper building.
Did you build them as so I can pack them up or glue the pins as solid one piece structures
Cannot make up my mind which is the best way to do the Piko toy buildings
My town is the Toy Saloon, off licence and school at the moment wondering what else to add from the toy range as these suit the colonial image I want for my line
Wanted Santas Workshop but never seem to be fast enough or have the cash at the right time of year for that one[:(]
The one farthest away is the Aristo station building, the others are all Piko, the tall one is a european style dress shop of all things!! The other two are a general store and a hardware store. I use the plastic pins unglued so I can drop them down when needed. Good quality buildings and certainly colonial!!
How long have had the buildings? I have had mine outside 24/7 for the last year and the only issue I have had has been the stickers comming off. After reglueing, the stickers have stayed. I haven’t had any warping(yet).
John, I think me and Chuck reckon it’s that 40 degrees that do it, Blackpool never sees that!! Is the building in full sun or is just the heat that does it? Look good with a smoke unit inside as though it’s just caught fire with the smoke lapping out from under the roof![8D]
Its not that bad it does cool down to something a bit more reasonable at night in the summer.
I am thinking about bracing the the roof along the peak so its suported all the way along top and bottom but that will mean gluing the building solid, not sure what to brace the roof with.
John, have you got any spares of the lugs and pins? How about glueing lugs to the roof and walls so you can pin them together to stop the warp. I think I have a box full in the workshop, I’ll post them to you if you’re short. I have your address somewhere but better to pm me with it if you want any.
