low voltage lighting systems

Does anyone have any knowledge to share of low voltage lighting systems such as the Clickstrip offered by Ardee Lighting http://www.ardeelighting.com/subpage.php?id=clikstrip_pr ? I was wondering about their practicality for layout lighting. I think they could be pretty expensive, but might provide an elegant answer for lower-deck lighting if bulbs are available with suitable power and lightwaves. They appear to be built to order to buyer-specified length.

Well for a start, a lumen is a lumen no matter how it’s generated.

Looks like these strips generate about 100 for the high output LED version.

A four foot daylight fluorescent produces about 2600 lumins. You can calculate how many low voltage fixtures you need in total and the associated LV current draw. It might be a lot more than you’d imagined. [:(!]

Hopefully others have tried these and can give emperical information.
