Lubricant

What is the best lubricant for locomotives, I assume the scale does not make much difference but I am interested in HO scale?

One of the best, according to many in the automotive trades, is Dexron III Automatic Transmission Fluid. It is plastic compatible, will not dry out or cake like other lubricants, adheres to moving parts better than most lubricants, and it will withstand higher temperature extremes than other oils.

Transmission fluid, never would have thought of that one, I’ll have to give it a try.

Thanks,

Jerry

I use a product called “Trinity”. It’s made for high speed RC cars, is plastic compatible and works well.

A light oil will work fine too. You could use 3-n-1, or sewing machine oil too. Kevin

Thanks guys! [:)]
