Lucernmines, Pennsylvania-Railroad Crossing Signs

For a few weeks, right across from teh Sheetz Station in Lucernmines, there have been 2 signaled crossing signs propped up against a trailor. It is in the lot that was used to put a transmitter on the rails and haul it to the Homer City Power Plant. So far I can’t find any hint of where they’re supposed to go. Indiana (the town) has had a couple crossing sign upgrades during the summer, with a lit crossing given gates, and another crossing receiving lights/gates, but I can’t find where those things would go, and they have no gates with them.

Does anybody know/have any ideas?

If they are going on a public highway crossing the state d.o.t. will have their nose in it. Check their web-site for awarded contracts/active projects. If they are going to be installed on a private crossing, like inside a large plant, unless you know the signal crew on the railroad, you’re s.o.l.

Just an update about this, this week as I went by (it had been 2 weeks since my last pass), 2 odd-looking railcars were positioned there, and I could see a third crossing sign (which was odd since there is only one road crossing, right next to the traffic light). I know the Buffalo & Pittsburgh had been doing some track work over the past couple weeks, but I was unaware that they had brought these railcars on Kovalchick’s line, or what they’re planning on doing here, but it’s certainly going to be something.

This section of Kovalchick’s line had long been abandoned, though was used a couple years ago to haul a generator to the Homer City Power Plant in PA. I knew a guy who would know about this kind of stuff in the area, but his email address has long been dead, so I don’t know how to find him now. Anybody know any ways to find out about what’s to happen? So far, I couldn’t find any details in searches. Thanks.
