Luckiest Man Alive

Finally after months of benchwork, it’s all starting to come together. And I got my wife to do the backdrop… Little did I know that not only can she cook, but she can paint as well. Crap, I have a keeper. Now if I can just teach her to solder track together and weather a box car.

Nice benchwork and backdrop. Can’t wait for tracks and scenery [:P]

Yes, now the hard part starts. Laying the track. Still looking for a track plan. The benchwork is approx 10’x10’ around the walls. Got any suggestions?

Getting all involved, that’s a big part of MRR. Everyone has a talent, be it you, your mate, or a friend.

NIce work, clean and bright.

If you’re a subscriber to model railroader, check out their trackplan database. You can probably get some inspiration there.

I’ve been a subscriber to the mag for probably the past 12 years and am just now getting a feel for the website. I’ve checked in the database and found one that I like for a 10x10x2 around the walls. Now the backdrop is complete, I’m going to start laying track next weekend. I’ll keep ya’ll posted on my progress.

If you ever want to test her Love “Honey, I need to use the Microwave to dry some dirt clogs out for the layout”. My wife said it was OK with her, now that is Love.

Good looking back drop as well.

Does your wife know you plastered pictures of her all over this train geek site?[8D]

Heres a schematic and shot of my 11X8 shelf train layout. Texas Zephyr helped me design it, even though he probably won’t take credit.

Heres a wide shot that shows the staging yards on the outside of the train room.

I think they (wifes) enjoy helping us. Well if they don’t they really put up a good front.

Ahh, one of the major secrets of successful model railroading - getting the spouse’s interest and help!!!

When I was dating my current wife, she showed great interest in the layout and grabbed a bunch of unpainted livestock and gave them a terrific paintjob. Turned out her folks owned a craft store for years in the '60s and '70s and she did a lot of custom painting for them. We are approaching our 8th year together and she is very supportive and appreciative of the hobby. It doesn’t get much better than that.

I had never thought of my wife possesing any degree of creativity, but then at the end of each month she exibits a fine creative mind when she submits her expense report to her boss for reimbersement.

I guess creativity exists in many different forms[8D]

The dirty-old-man in me says “nice hair.”

Don’t see the reason for masking tape to protect the bare plywood from the wall paint. I’m expecting ground cover!

DriLine,

I guess in your house, Disco is not dead? [(-D]

Don Z.

My wife isn’t really into trains but she does like to hang out in the garage with me. Sometimes I think she enjoys working on cars more then I do.

Disco is Dead??? Say it isn’t so! That disco ball is the reason we bought this house.

Do you know how hard it was to find a house with an original disco ball?

I just spent 4 hours on the Labor and Delivery floor for a false alarm… sleeping in one of those uncomfortable chairs that folds out into a bed, Should be real soon now… and I feel like the Luckiest Man Alive about to have a new addition to our family. My 3 year old twins are excited to be getting a baby sister. Nice thing is being surrounded by all girls my wife is a little more tolerable of my expensive hobbies.

Thanks for the chuckle guys [tup]
