There was another one of these MOW threads a while back. Here’s mine. They’re looking better now, thanks to some weathering. For the very observant, I’ve also fixed the upper pulley support for the crane, and replaced the rest of the horn-hooks with Kadee’s. Some of the plastic wheels have given way to metal, too.

Althought I don’t have an MoW fleet, I do have a favorite. My favorite would be Loram’s Rail Grinder, RG311.

thats my new favorite Rail Grinder, RG311

lol

I like that track cleaner unit. Looks similar to units used during WWII that survived thru the 70s.

I want to model M.O.W equipment. Problem is that today, for those of us modeling from the 1950s thru the 70s, M.O.W units, like track tampers, rail grinders, rail welders and crew transporters from that time period are difficult to find. Even some of the brass units, like the one in the photo above, produced years back show up sporadically on ebay. So we have to wind up kitbashing.

There are plenty of modern M.O.W machines in the HO and N market in the Walthers catalog. Very nIce looking…just wi***hat would consider producing some models from the past.

I’ve actually seen RG311 in person, and have been in her cab as well.[:D] If you would like to see more, go to:

About all I have is a white MOW truck and crew that appear to be replacing old ties on a side track.

Tracklayer

i like loram saw it a few times. what kind of mow is that a pic of bud.
i might have pic at my site of mow at http://ztrainman.tripod.com/

This is the short MOW train used by my shortline, the Cedar Branch & Western.

this is an HO boxcab rail grinder I use it now and then, but have not seen them like this one.
it has two working grinders on the front

K

Could that possibly be good for the rail on a model railroad??? Are they brushes???

its a sand paper disk on the ends but I’d like to change it to rubber or cotton
