M.W. Hemphill

I noticed that M.W. Hempfill answers a lot of questions. Is that because you are really smart, or do you just pretend to be and guess at the answer?

keep asking keep learning

Anyone smell anything? Ratlike?

If anyone knows the meaning of plonk it might be in order in this case.

I didn’t post that question for you to be mean to me. Stop being mean. I just wanted to know how he answers so many questions. He must be really smart because I don’t think he is pretending, because that would not be nice.

keep asking keep learning

Mark W. Hemphill is the former editor of Trains Magazine. Yes he is very smart!

OK, then how does this sound.

I notice that Terry_C asks a lot of questions. Is that because you really want to learn something or are you just a smart mouthed little brat?

Terry_C

M W Hemphill is Mark Hemphill…the former Editor of Trains Magazine and one that has had an extensive career in the rail industry.

…Being civil in attitude on the forum is the best approach.

Hemp Hill… Smoking that rope to get that loco up the hill[:-^]

Thank you Willy2, JoeKoh, BaltACD, Modelcar for explaining why he knows how to answer so many questions.

Yes, dgwicks, I like to ask questions, and no, you should not be mean about it. That is not nice. Asking lots of logical questions is a family trait, and if you don’t ask, you will never learn the answer to the question that your mind was asking.

just keep asking, just keep learning

Modelcar, I do second you and confirm you in your rising to this point. This forum under Mark has been a place of civility and decorum, with good and spirited discussion. A place for ideas, oppinions, and no small amout of humor worthy of a good site. Mark does not need us to defend him, however we do believe that the forum is not the place for rancor, hostility or class warfare. As I said one time before this is not a bar.[2c]

I like Mark. He never has a bad thing to say to me even if I keep asking the same question over again (poor memory sometimes on my part). I’ve noticed that a lot of the questions that doesn’t get answered because nobody knows, he can answer.

It’s great to have knowledgeable people on the forum, how else are we suppose to learn?

Andrew

I’m very impressed with Mark’s knowledge about the economic/regulator side of railroads. But what do I know. I have been a railfan for 45 years, have a BS degree from the Univ. of Tenn.(1966) and 37 years experince in marketing with five Class I railroads.

Ouch! Debate is good for the soul, but… ouch!!

hey, Mark has a lot of what many people lack in this forum, experience
And you should be thankfull that he shares it feeely…

I’d charge a thousand dollars a day for it…

Mrk knocks me off my rocker by his ability to analyze each situation and respond accordingly, he presents well wordrd arguments, and I now learn it is an honour to know him, and to speak with him.

Not only is Mark a great source of info, but he’s well on his way to ten thousand posts by the end of the year.

Fifty thousand, he keeps rigging the numbers- [:D][;)]

Mark is excellent, he always gives the facts and is dead on. I do hope he hangs around for a looonngggg time.

I have enjoyed many emails back and forth with him and I cannot think of anyone would would be a better description of the word gentleman.
