Macon, GA background photo

G’day, Y’all,
Any railroad modelers from Macon, GA know of a row of buildings which might offer a photo background like the one in the MRR article a few months ago? Ideally, such a photo op would have a building several blocks away which would allow climbing onto the roof so that (a), the background and abutting buildings would both offer the same perspective and show the roofs, (b) one would be able to see some parts of downtown Macon which would be recognizable as Macon, and (c) look like something 50 years ago when the MD&S was still a flying flag.
I’m doing my Atlas plan #19 switching layout as a freelanced Macon Dublin & Savannah RR Co. operation.

I got some photos from Webshot community area and used some editing software to paste some of them together into a panaramic view and then had Kinko’s blow it up and print it. You can search in webshots for just about anything and the only real cost involved was the trip to Kinko’s. It came out quite convincing.

Hi Jockellis
This may help, may not… I visited Macon before I retired from British American Tobacco (Brown and Williamson was part of BAT). BAT usually has an abundance of photos of areas where they have built manufacturing plants etc that cover a good many years. Why not e-mail them? Go to www.bat.com … go to contacts … then on the right hand side is a map of how to get to the head office in London, click on ‘contact us with any queries you may have.’
They are usually accomodating to the general public, give it a go. Hey, they can only say yes or no!
Good luck
Barry
