I remember seeing pictures of a model of a quarry recently. I do not remember where. I have been going through old MR and others, and could not find it again today.
Is there anyone who happens to remember where that was, or can put me on to an index (not table of contents) of the mags?
MR, July, 2006, page 73. The layout was built by Peter Eaton.
Thank you Mr B. Just what I remembered.
I have just the place for this idea. We will be quarrying Malachite. I have some slabs I picked up in Tombstone that came out of the Bisbee mines. I have started to bash the Cornerstone marble factory. Look for pics about Christmas time. I still have a canyon to finish.
Interestingly enough, one of the things I’ve found out recently is that there are several underground limestone mines. To have a rail stone service, you don’t necessarily need to have an open pit. Just FYI.
Thanks shawnee. I am looking for an open pit for several reasons including:
I have the Malachite slabs
I like the look of the quarry hole and the detail you can put in it
I think the green color will make the scene unique
my first layout idea(never completed) was a model of the Crosby open pit mine. This is not the same, but seems like what I want to do now.
I got some great help from these posts and a couple of great pics to work off of. Thanks.
