Mail Pouch

I have several scratchbuilt structures on which I’d like to display the old time ads; Mail Pouch, Chew Red Man, etc. Where can I buy the proper materials to make this happen?

If it is just the lettering that you need. You may want to consider vinyl lettering sets, that you can find at a Staples or Office Max store. The lettering sets come in various sizes and several colors.
The Mail Pouch sign would be in white and the yellow letters would need to colored in by you over the white letters. I am thinking of using the lettering sets and outlining each letter with a colored pencil. Remove the lettering and color in the outlined letters with a white or yellow colored pencil. The lighter shaded/colored letters would give it a weathered look. A coat of clear spray (Krylon) matte finish should seal the letters.

If you need a picture for the sign, you may want to look for someone who does custom decals.

There’s a web site full of those types of signs…

Can’t find it for the life of me[:(]

Enter “mail pouch sign” in google… a bunch of old signs come up… some of which you can copy and print.

Dougt,
Using the plastic stick on letters works fine.
Instead of painting in the color after removing the letters, try painting the letter colors on the barn first, then put on the plastic letters and paint over them with the black paint, after the paint starts to set up carefuly use the point of a knife to remove the plastic letters and your letters will be painted on the barn .

The websites with signs you can print are up in the “sticky” at the top of this forum. Take a look up there. The next problem though is getting them waterproof and covered so they don’t fade.

Oh. Duh. What an obvious place to look[D)]
