In 2008 I took part in an organised visit to the Post Office railway. Although then closed it was still maintained in working condition with the workshop still in use. We travelled for about one mile under central London - probably in the seat fitted car shown in your image. The very small tunnel made the distance seem much longer. At that time the staff were hoping to be able to open the system to the general public - it appears that is now about to happen. It will be interesting to see how it is marketed!
Why was it closed? I’ve been thinking it could be repurposed into some kind of minitrain network.
isn’t part of the tunnel now expanded and used for the Crossrail line?
