Not only did I receive my June MR, but I also received the May issue of the NMRA Pacific NW Region “Grab Iron” publication. Great reading in both!!
The Grab Iron had a very good article on the Layout Tour held in April in Olympia, WA, which I took part in… and yes, it was great fun!
I will be reading the MR over the next day or two. Unlike some who immediately read the entire magazine in one setting, I like to really examine the photos, read and reread some article, and yes, I even check the ads closely. Every once in a while I spot a price not seen before. This method of taking two to four days to read the whole magazine gives me time to savor the content.
Then it usually sits on my night stand for a week or two so I can dream about locomotives from PROTO with DCC and no sound that don’t cost $350.00 a pop. Maybe some day old fashioned DCC will come back in style and I’ll be able to buy one of these fine engines. Don’t get me wrong; I like the sound. I just can’t afford it. And to see most manfacturers going solely to DC or Sound DCC cuts out modelers like myself who want a quality engine with DCC but can’t justify the cost of sound.
