Maine Central locomotive models and paint schemes

I model Canadian Pacific and Canadian National in the 50’s and early 60’s and am adding a ficticous Maine Central branch on my layout. I would welcome any info on locomotives the Maine Central used in this time period and their paint schemes…Thanks Micahel

Michael,

Here’s a site that I found on the Internet: http://www.angelfire.com/ct/MEC

Funny, other than a 2-8-0 and a 2-8-2, I can’t seem to find any references on the types of steam used on the MEC.

And, just to put a bug in your ear. If you going to be modeling the 50s and early 60s with a fictitious MEC branch, you should consider adding a ball signal to your layout. Even during that era, ball signals were still found (and used) in VT and NH. There’s still one remaining one in Whitefield, NH - although it doesn’t get much use anymore.

Anyhow, that would give you a very unique structure on your layout.

I know the MEC had 2-10-2’s. I’ve seen them. I think they were the biggest steam on the system. But I digress…

This site has lots of great MEC pics although I don’t think you can search by date.

Hi all…Thanks for all the replies …I should have been more specific in stating I was only looking for diesel locomotives. I don’t run steam on my layout. Thanks again. Michael

Michael,

Here’s another link on MEC diesels: http://www.trainweb.org/trains/MECROS.HTM

Al replies greatly appreciated especially the links to the locomotive roaster…Thanks Tom…Michael

If you are modelling an existing or previously existing railroad, how can it be fictitious???

Here’s the diesel roster up to the Guilford era:
