Maine Seaport - Model Railroader Issue??

Hi all

can anyone please tell me which issue of Model Railroader featured the article “Small layout you can build - Maine seaport in H0”? It shows the layout on the cover, with a black and red Maine Central S3 or similar.

I have a poor quality image of the cover, but I can’t read its date. Not posting the pic here in case it wouldn’t be well received by management.

I have searched the back issues but no joy. It might be earlier than 1986, but I don’t know.

Sounds like Iain Rice’s article on Roque’s Bluff. That would be the October, 2003 issue of MR.

It’s not Roque Bluffs though - I’ve seen that article [very good and inspirational too] The one I’m seeking is more industrial.

This issue does have the S unit on the cover. Why don’t you post the cover picture you have. I can’t conceive of any reason why there would be an objection, and it will help you get your answer.

uhoh… did you ever get that sinking feeling and you slowly realise you made a dumb mistake?

I just checked my PDF of Roque Bluffs and it IS the same layout. What threw me was the mag’s cover photo isn’t in the PDF of the article. [similar angles are, though] That’s my defence, such as it is[:slight_smile:] [:I] Definitely the same layout though. The S is even pulling the same gondola!

The cover shown is the October 2003 issue. Iain Rice’s article ran in 8 parts from Oct 2003 through May 2004.
