Golden spike ceremony planned soon Mainline laid, wired for DCC and return loops automated… I’ll clean up the wiring(!!), add a scenery divider to the peninsula, work on any track bugs plus start on the harbor area next week - then rough in the logging branch, hills, tunnel and switchbacks.
Nothing like looking at photos to point out how much construction debris I leave around…
Ain’t success nice? I agree on the debris in photo’s comment. I look forward to more progress. I am interested in your switch back, I have one and wonder who else does and what they learned in the process of building it.
Sure is exciting to get trains running and running right - - no glitches.
My layout has been languishing for a few months, all tracked and wired - - but under a layer of newspaper. I got my backdrop painted several months ago, then decided that I might need to do some additional painting on it after I scratch build one of the main industries that go against the backdrop, a grain elevator. That project has taken me MUCH longer than expected. So, I left the paper on it so that I wouldn’t get distracted while building the grain elevator. The grain elevator is almost done now - - it has been a fun project just the same. Back to running trains sometime soon maybe.
I’m building this layout with the “pink stuff” - 1-inch Foamular 250 - available locally (Seattle) at Lowe’s. It’s sturdy enough for my lightweight requirements in N scale. The blue 2" foam you see is remnants from a previous layout - from Home Depot.
Each supplier seems to carry a different brand/thickness of foam (if any).Since the locale/climate seems to determine which retailers carry what types - if I were in your shoes I’d make some phone calls.
