Maintaining my RS10

I have a Proto 1000 RS10 and I’m wondering how to lubercate it. I’ve had it for a few years and now it’s making a low, slightly loud rumble and the instructions say to lubercate it every few years. I’ve taken off the shell but I’m wondering were I should lube it and how do I get the bottom truck cover off without wrecking it.

Put a very small amount of plastic compatible grease (La-belle makes some good ones) on any exposed gear(s) you can see. The grease will transfer itself through the gear train without any help. Also put some La-Belle oil on the axle boxes. Again, just a tint drop. Over lubricating is the biggest cause of model locomoitve problems.

Ask your hobby shop for recommendations on which La-belle products to use. I’m afraid I can’t make any suggestions as mine are all packed away and I don’t want to mislead you by giving you the wrong numbers.

DO NOT use ordinary “household” lubricants like “3 in 1” or WD40 as they will attack the plastic.
