I was looking for a good way to make the lights on my ambulance blink , from one side to the other, as in the real thing. I purchased one of these, and wired it in. Previously I had drilled two holes under the flashing light bar for 2 red LED’s, which I installed and hooked up to the BLM from trainsetelectronics.com… I have no interest in this company , just the fact that this product works and is very reasonable for the 15.00 price…Check it out at
Tim,
You might want to look into Lemax level crossing warning lights as a materials source for modifications. I’ve hooked up one set of these units to AC track power and they flash…although I think they flash slower than on the intended AA battery power. You’ll have 2 sets of lights to work into a multiple unit responce team or put all 4 lights in one emergency vehicle, giving it flashing tail lights. And at $5 or less, well, the Lemax level crossings are one third the price and includes everything you need.
Richmond controls is another company that makes small lights (mostly for N guage). I saw them at the Houston show but do not know much else about them.
Could you post a picture of what you did? I have a highway patrol car I would like to try this with, do you just run the wires from the underside of the table to the vehicle?
[:(][:(] No sorry Chief, It cant… It works off a DC transformer plugged into the wall. Guess you’ll have to buy the MTH…
And yes Jon , I simply run 3 small wires into the vehicle to the LED’s. They alternate at a rate of 60 times per minute, really looks cool at night. I will post some pics when the wife gets back from business trip ( ha ha ) to Dallas. she stole my camera…Tim
Once again Chief, you are showing the lack of hearing real trains to compare you engines to plus the effects of all the sugar in your system for too much sweet tea. [;)] [8D]
