Pretty straight forward, but I thought I’d share how I’ve made some cotton flags for my layout. The key ingredient here is the Avery #3275 T-Shirt Transfer sheets.
Step 1. The great thing is you can make flags of any size, shape, and theme. Below are three sets of flags. The largest is the Lionel flag (2.5" by 4") down to the Green Bay Packer triangle which is about 1" by 2". You need to make one side normal, then copy and flip the image so you can have an image on both sides of your flag. Again, I print these onto a sheet Avery #3275 T-Shirt Transfer paper.
Step 2. Put down a towel or T-shirt on your ironing board, then cut out a piece from an old T-shirt a little larger than the flag you are making. For a cotton T-shirt, run on its hottest setting and get the wrinkles out.
Step 3. Cut out your flag (leave about 1/2" of margin) and place it with the ink-side down and iron for about 30 seconds.
Step 4. Flip the cloth over. DO NOT peel off the paper.
Step 5. Match the other side of your flag and iron as above.
Step 6. Do not touch until it is cool to the touch (a couple of minutes). Then slowly peel the paper to reveal your masterpiece.
Step 7. Trim and enjoy. You can just staple it to a wooden dowel or add eyelets.
